Mavka: The Forest Song 2023

Set in the mystical Enchanted Forest and a nearby human village, the plot follows Mavka, a gentle forest soul who is chosen by the Supreme Spirits to become the new Guardian of the Forest. Her world is thrown into turmoil when she meets Lukas, a kind musician who enters the forbidden woods to find a magical leaf that can cure his sick uncle. Their burgeoning romance is threatened by the villainous Kylina, a greedy woman who manipulates the villagers’ fear of "forest demons" to steal the Source of Life for her own eternal youth. After a series of betrayals led by Kylina’s deceit, Mavka is forced to choose between her love for a human and her duty to protect the forest, eventually unleashing a "Spark of Rage" to defend her home before Lukas's music restores her spirit and brings peace to both worlds. The film features a prominent cast for its international release, with the English-language version starring Laurie Hymes as Mavka and Eddy Lee as Lukas, while the original Ukrainian version features Natalka Denysenko and Artem Pyvovarov in the lead roles.
