Serhii Dmytrovych Prytula, born on June 22, 1981, in Zbarazh, Ukraine, is a multifaceted public figure whose career has evolved from popular entertainment to high-stakes political activism and historic humanitarian work. He rose to national fame in the early 2000s as a radio and television presenter, becoming a staple of Ukrainian media through his work on the morning show Pidiom, the satirical comedy show Varyaty, and as a long-time host of the Eurovision national selections. His education at the West Ukrainian National University and a brief period working in London provided him with a broad perspective that eventually led him into politics. In 2019, he joined the "Holos" (Voice) party and ran for the Ukrainian Parliament, followed by a high-profile bid for the Mayor of Kyiv in 2020 where he finished third. Over the years, Prytula transitioned away from his career as a "showman" to dedicate himself fully to civic leadership, becoming one of the most trusted voices in modern Ukraine. In the 2023 international animated hit Mavka: The Forest Song, Prytula provided the voice for Frol, the eccentric and fashion-obsessed stylist and assistant to the villainous Kylina. Frol serves as a comedic foil to the film's darker elements, often caught between his desire for high-end luxury and the dangerous schemes of his employer. This role marked one of Prytula's final major contributions to the entertainment industry before he pivoted his focus entirely to national defense efforts. Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he has led the Serhii Prytula Charity Foundation, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. His most famous initiatives include the "People's Bayraktar" campaign, which crowdfunded enough for several strike drones, and a project that purchased a specialized SAR satellite for Ukrainian military intelligence. As of 2025, Prytula continues to operate as a central figure in Ukraine’s civil society, balancing his massive philanthropic work with his role as a husband and father of three children.
