Olivier Père, born on March 17, 1971, in Marseille, France, is a prominent figure in the world of cinema, primarily known for his work in film programming, criticism, and production. After graduating with a degree in Humanities from the University of Sorbonne (Paris IV), he began his career in 1995 as a programmer at the Cinémathèque française in Paris, where he organized numerous retrospectives and thematic seasons until 2009. Concurrently, from 1997 to 2012, he was a film critic for "Les Inrockuptibles" and other publications. His influence grew significantly through his roles as artistic director of the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival from 2004 to 2009, and then as artistic director of the Festival del film Locarno in Switzerland from 2009 to 2012. Since November 2012, Olivier Père has served as the Executive Director of ARTE France Cinéma, a key role in which he oversees film acquisitions and co-productions, particularly focusing on independent and arthouse films. He is also a producer, with credits on numerous internationally acclaimed films, including "Bacurau" (2019), "High Life" (2018), and "Titane" (2021). Beyond his executive and production roles, Père has also contributed to film literature, co-writing a book on Jacques Demy and contributing to "Take 100 - The Future of film: 100 New Directors." He is also known for conducting insightful interviews with film personalities, often during the Cannes Film Festival.
