Personal details

Pallavi Sharda

Born on 1992, in Perth, Western Australia, Pallavi Sharda is a versatile Australian-Indian actress, classical dancer, and advocate who has successfully bridged the gap between Bollywood and international cinema. The daughter of two IIT alumni and professors, she grew up in a high-achieving academic household and excelled herself, earning a double degree in Law and Languages and a Diploma in Modern Languages from the University of Melbourne. Despite her academic success, her passion for the performing arts—specifically her training in the classical Indian dance form Bharatanatyam—led her to move to Mumbai in 2010 to pursue a career in the Indian film industry. She made her debut with a cameo in My Name Is Khan and soon landed leading roles in films like Besharam opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Hawaizaada alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, establishing herself as a prominent face in Hindi cinema before expanding her horizons back to Western media. In recent years, Sharda has transitioned into a global performer, gaining significant recognition for her roles in major English-language productions. She played a pivotal role in the Oscar-nominated film Lion (2016) and took on leading roles in the British historical drama series Beecham House and the Australian thriller Les Norton. In 2021, she reached a wide international audience as the high-society bride Preeta in the live-action/animated hybrid film Tom & Jerry, followed by a starring role in the Netflix romantic comedy Wedding Season (2022).
