Pat O'Brien

Patrick John "Pat" O'Brien is an American author and radio host best known for his three-decade career in broadcasting that spanned both sports and entertainment news. Born on February 14, 1948, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he is most recognized for his sixteen-year stint as a sportscaster with CBS Sports from 1981 to 1997, where he served as a pre-game host for events like the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals, and the Final Four, in addition to covering six Olympic Games for CBS and NBC. Following his successful sports career, O'Brien transitioned to entertainment news, co-hosting Access Hollywood from 1997 to 2004 and serving as the lead host of the Entertainment Tonight spin-off, The Insider, from its inception in 2004 until 2008. After a public scandal involving his struggles with alcoholism in 2005, which he candidly addressed, he has focused on recovery, counseling, and writing, releasing his memoir, I'll Be Back Right After This, in 2014.
