Prakash Raj is a highly acclaimed and versatile Indian actor, director, producer, and television presenter. Born as Prakash Rai on March 26, 1965, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, he is a polyglot known for his work across multiple languages, including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. He began his career in theater, performing in over 2,000 street plays, before making his cinematic debut in the Kannada film industry.He gained prominence in Tamil cinema with his role in K. Balachander's 1994 film Duet, and his career took off from there. He is widely recognized for his powerful performances, particularly in antagonist and character roles. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including five National Film Awards, for films such as Iruvar (1997), Antahpuram (1998), and Kanchivaram (2007). As a producer, he also won a National Film Award for the Kannada film Puttakkana Highway (2011).Prakash Raj was first married to actress Lalitha Kumari from 1994 to 2009. They have two daughters, Meghana and Pooja. A son, Sidhu, tragically passed away in 2004. He later married choreographer Pony Verma in 2010, and they have a son, Vedhanth.
