Tere Ishk Mein 2025
Released on November 28, 2025, Tere Ishk Mein is an intense romantic tragedy directed by Aanand L. Rai that serves as a spiritual sequel to Raanjhanaa (2013). The story follows Shankar (Dhanush), a volatile student activist and pilot, and Mukti (Kriti Sanon), a psychology student researching the nature of violence. Their relationship is a chaotic collision of Shankar's raw, obsessive passion and Mukti's internal conflict, further complicated by a deep class divide and the interference of her bureaucrat father. The narrative spirals into a dark tale of unrequited love, self-destruction, and vengeance. The film stars Dhanush and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles, supported by Prakash Raj, Tota Roy Chowdhury, and Priyanshu Painyuli, with a special appearance by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. The music is composed by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The film has received mixed reviews from critics. While there is near-universal praise for the lead performances—particularly Dhanush’s "feral" intensity and Kriti Sanon’s emotional depth—the screenplay has been criticized for being "bloated," "messy," and "illogical" in the second half. Many reviewers have drawn comparisons to Kabir Singh due to the protagonist's toxic traits, noting that while the music and direction are strong, the plot often wanders. Ratings generally hover between 2.5 to 3 stars, with critics calling it a "visually stunning but inconsistent" drama. The film has taken a strong start at the box office. On its opening day (Friday, Nov 28), it collected approximately ₹16 crore net in India, making it Dhanush’s biggest Hindi opener to date and the second-biggest opener for a romantic film in 2025. It maintained its momentum on Day 2 (Saturday), with early estimates suggesting collections of around ₹17 crore, bringing its two-day domestic total to roughly ₹33 crore. Streaming It has been confirmed that Netflix is the official streaming partner for the film. Following the standard theatrical window, Tere Ishk Mein is expected to premiere on the platform roughly 8 weeks after its release, placing the digital debut likely around late January 2026.

Tere Ishk Mein channels the emotional essence of Raanjhanaa and genuinely attempts to recreate that soulful magic. For a good portion of the film, it succeeds. Dhanush and Kriti deliver compelling performances that go beyond what their characters are written to be, and the dialogues are intense, thoughtful, and striking. The film builds an engaging first half and the initial stretch of the second half remains gripping with its raw emotional energy and strong character moments. However, as it approaches the finale, the narrative begins to lose its balance. The story shifts away from its grounded, well-built foundation and tries to soar into a larger-than-life zone-only to fall short. While the standout elements remain the performances, the impactful dialogues, and the evocative background score, the storytelling wavers in the final act. Tere Ishk Mein is heartfelt and ambitious, but its ending keeps it from achieving the impact it initially promises.
