Salme Geransar
Salme Geransar is an Iranian-Australian actress, artist, and martial artist who has built a diverse international career across film, television, and the stage. Born in Tehran, Iran, she immigrated to Australia with her family at the age of four and grew up on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Though she initially pursued a degree in Biotechnology at the University of Newcastle, her passion for the arts led her to transition into acting, eventually graduating from a three-year intensive program at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art in 2006. She further refined her craft through prestigious workshops in Los Angeles, including the Upright Citizens Brigade and Anthony Meindl’s Actor Workshop, allowing her to develop a skill set that includes fluency in English, Persian, and Spanish, as well as a Shodan black belt in Iwama Ryu Aikido. Geransar’s screen career is highlighted by roles in high-profile projects such as the Netflix thriller Clickbait (2021), where she played Detective Majano, and the ABC series Mystery Road: Origin (2022), for which she shared an Equity Ensemble Award for Outstanding Performance. Her filmography includes the sci-fi thriller The Mandela Effect (2019) and the 2026 survival horror film We Bury the Dead, in which she portrays Private Clarkson. In addition to her screen work, she is a celebrated stage actress, recently earning critical acclaim for her performance in the Melbourne Theatre Company’s 2024 production of English.
