Shivantha Wijesinha
Shivantha Wijesinha is a Sri Lankan-born actor, musician, and producer known for his versatile performances across film, television, and theatre. Born in Oxford, England, and raised in Sri Lanka, he has lived in various countries, including Hong Kong, Italy, Australia, and the United States, which has enriched his multicultural perspective and artistic approach. He completed his education at Royal College in Colombo and later pursued a BA in English and a Bachelor of Laws in Melbourne, Australia. Initially, he qualified as a barrister and solicitor, but his passion for the arts led him to study acting on scholarship at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Shivantha's acting career began with his television debut in Australia as Imran in Season 2 of Kath & Kim (2003). He later appeared in the Australian series The Librarians (2009) and has been involved in various film projects, including Funny Boy (2020), Furiosa (2024), and Road to the Sky (2025) . His portrayal of Jegan in Funny Boy, directed by Deepa Mehta, garnered critical acclaim and highlighted his ability to tackle complex roles. Beyond acting, Shivantha is a talented musician who began playing the piano at the age of eight and later learned guitar, bass, and drums. He has recorded two albums, Words From Not Long Ago (2014) and Clarity (2017), available on various digital platforms . His narration of the Booker Prize-winning novel The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka was nominated for Best Audiobook of the Year in the UK in 2023.
