Sturla Brandth Grøvlen is an acclaimed Norwegian cinematographer, born in Trondheim in 1980, who is now based in Denmark. His career is distinguished by his versatile and intuitive visual style, which has been applied to a wide range of international and Danish films. Grøvlen studied film at institutions including the European Film College and graduated from The National Film School of Denmark in 2011. He achieved international recognition with the 2015 German thriller Victoria, which was famously shot in a single, continuous, two-hour-plus take; for his extraordinary work on this film, he won the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. That same year, he showcased his stylistic range by shooting the Icelandic film Rams, which earned him a Silver Frog award at Camerimage. His filmography includes other notable works such as the Academy Award-winning Danish film Another Round (2020) by Thomas Vinterberg, The Innocents (2021) by Eskil Vogt, and War Sailor (2022), for which he won the ASC Spotlight Award.
