Tess Degenstein

Tess Degenstein is a versatile Canadian actor, screenwriter, director, and improviser known for her strong background in both theatre and screen work, originally hailing from Saskatchewan but now based in Vancouver. She is a highly trained improviser and has performed and taught in various international cities, skills she brings to her acting, which has earned her multiple ensemble Canadian Comedy Award nominations. In theatre, she has had significant success, notably touring off-Broadway and internationally with the long-running, hit Spontaneous Theatre show Blind Date and winning a Jessie Richardson Award for her performance in Noises Off. On screen, Degenstein has appeared in television series such as New Eden, So Help Me Todd, and Murdoch Mysteries. She has a close working relationship with director Osgood Perkins, having appeared in two of his recent films: the folk horror film Keeper (2025), in which she plays the character Maggie, and The Monkey (2025). Beyond performing, she is a creative force behind the camera, having written several feature film screenplays and an IPF series currently in development, in addition to directing two short films, including How Brief, which she also wrote and starred in.
