Tony Leung Ka-fai is a highly acclaimed and versatile Chinese-Hong Kong actor, born on February 1, 1958. Considered one of Hong Kong cinema's most respected veterans, he is a record four-time winner of the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actor, demonstrating his immense range across genres including historical epics, triad thrillers, romantic dramas, and comedies. He began his career after studying at the TVB performing artist training programme, making his film debut in The Burning of the Imperial Palace and Reign Behind a Curtain (both 1983), winning his first Best Actor award for the latter at a very young age.Leung achieved international recognition for his starring role as "The Chinaman" in the 1992 French period film The Lover (L'amant). His diverse filmography also includes iconic Hong Kong titles such as Prison on Fire (1987), Ashes of Time (1994), and his two most celebrated crime roles: Big D in Johnnie To's Election (2005) and Waise Lee in Cold War (2012), both of which earned him Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Actor.
