Wayne Elliot Knight is a veteran American actor, voice artist, and comedian, born on August 7, 1955, in New York City. Raised in Cartersville, Georgia, he developed an early interest in acting, eventually attending the University of Georgia to study theatre. Despite being an honors student, he left college one credit shy of graduation to pursue his acting career, a decision that eventually paid off. He worked as a private investigator for five years to support himself before finding success in acting.Knight is widely recognized for his numerous iconic roles across film and television. His most famous role is the scheming mailman Newman, Jerry's nemesis on the beloved sitcom Seinfeld. Another memorable television character is Officer Don Orville on 3rd Rock from the Sun. In film, he is known for his role as the treacherous programmer Dennis Nedry in the blockbuster hit Jurassic Park, a part he was the first to be cast in after director Steven Spielberg saw his performance in Basic Instinct. Knight has also had a prolific career as a voice actor, lending his distinct voice to characters such as Al McWhiggin in Toy Story 2, Tantor in Tarzan, and Mr. Blik in the animated series Catscratch.
