William Kaufman

William Kaufman is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer, known for his work in the action genre, particularly his focus on grounded and realistic action sequences with an emphasis on practical effects and fight choreography. Born in Japan, he spent parts of his childhood living overseas in places like London and Bangkok due to his father's career. This international upbringing provided him with diverse experiences. He even had an uncredited role as a production assistant and extra on the set of "Good Morning Vietnam" (1987) while in Thailand. After serving as a scout in the Army, Kaufman pursued film studies at the University of North Texas, initially focusing on special effects before transitioning to directing. He made his directorial debut with "The Prodigy" (2005) and gained significant recognition with "Sinners and Saints" (2010), which helped him break into studio projects. His filmography includes numerous action films such as "The Hit List" (2011), "One in the Chamber" (2012), "The Marine 4: Moving Target" (2015), "Daylight's End" (2016), "Jarhead 3: The Siege" (2016), "Warhorse One" (2023), "The Channel" (2023), "Shrapnel" (2023), and the recently released "Osiris" (2025).
