Yanna McIntosh is a highly distinguished Jamaican-born Canadian actress whose career spans over three decades across stage, film, and television. Born in Jamaica on February 4, 1970, and raised in Toronto from the age of two, she initially pursued a career in education, earning a degree and teaching for a short time before dedicating herself to the performing arts. She refined her craft at the University of Toronto and the American Repertory Theatre Institute at Harvard University, eventually becoming one of the most respected figures in Canadian theater. Her stage presence is legendary, particularly her tenure at the Stratford Festival, where she has tackled iconic roles such as Lady Macbeth, Titania, and Cleopatra. She gained further international acclaim in 2019 when she was cast as Hermione Granger in the San Francisco production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Beyond the stage, McIntosh has built an extensive screen filmography with over 70 credits. She is well-known for her television roles in series such as This Is Wonderland, where her performance earned her a Gemini Award nomination, and the gritty TV movie Doomstown, for which she won a Gemini Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2007.
