Yuliya Snigir is a Russian actress and model born on June 2, 1983, in Donskoy, Russia. She initially pursued a different career path, studying English Philology at the Moscow State Pedagogical University and even working as an English teacher before her life took a turn into the world of modeling. Her modeling success led to a pivotal moment when a casting director noticed her and encouraged her to audition for acting roles. This led her to study at the Vakhtangov Theatre Academy.Snigir's acting career took off with her role in the Russian sci-fi blockbuster The Inhabited Island (2008) and its sequel. She gained international recognition for her role as the Russian antagonist Irina in the Hollywood film A Good Day to Die Hard (2013), where she starred alongside Bruce Willis. She is also acclaimed for her historical roles, particularly as Catherine the Great in the television series of the same name and in Bloody Lady. Her recent work includes a role in Paolo Sorrentino's series The New Pope for HBO. In the 2024 film The Master and Margarita, she played the titular role of Margarita, a performance for which she was recognized as the best actress at the Nika Award ceremony.
