Yuri Kolokolnikov is a Russian-Canadian actor renowned for his compelling performances in both Russian and international cinema and television. Born on December 15, 1980, in Moscow, he relocated to Canada with his mother and brother at the age of five. After returning to Russia during his teenage years, Kolokolnikov pursued acting, studying at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute and launching his career in the mid-1990s. He gained early recognition with roles in Russian films and theater productions, including Zheleznyy zanaves (1994) and Diary of a Killer (2003). Kolokolnikov's international breakthrough came in 2014 when he was cast as Styr, the Magnar of Thenn, in the fourth season of HBO's Game of Thrones. His portrayal of the formidable wildling leader garnered attention and marked a significant milestone in his career. He further expanded his global presence with roles in films such as The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017), 6 Underground (2019), and Tenet (2020), as well as the acclaimed series The Americans (2017–2018). In addition to his acting endeavors, Kolokolnikov has been involved in various Russian projects, including the 2021 film Petrov's Flu, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and the 2024 adaptation of The Master and Margarita .
