Pelicula entretenida 4K decente

Fantastic 4k Transfer; Bad Movie
Let me say this first. The 4k transfer is beautiful. Absolutely one of the best looking 4k movies I own in my collection and my jaw drops every time I realize this is a 30-year old movie. The cinematographer did a phenomenal job and I’m glad this release showcases the fact. Now the movie itself…well. It is not good. Frankly, it’s pretty bad.*** Spoiler Free ***If you’re a fan of the book, you’re going to hate this movie. Maybe even be offended. While the opening credits and first 20 minutes are promising, all of the dread and fear of the original story are magically zapped away from the movie and replaced with a campiness only the 80s can produce. I don’t know what Stephen King was thinking with his screenplay, but it does a tremendous disservice to the powerful source material. Without giving away any of the story, there is a pivotal moment that one does not have to put in much effort to truly disturb the audience (hint: it involves a truck). Yet, this movie is so bad that you feel nothing from it happening. Nothing. As the movie adapts a fairly big book into 105 minutes, a lot of things had to be left out; including the entire history of the “grounds” and the logic behind the supernatural things that occur. Considering this was such an important element to the original story, it’s truly unfathomable why the filmmakers didn’t even try to put it in the movie. Also, I can’t tell if the main character is terribly written or if the actor is just really bad at his job. I’m going to assume it’s probably a combination. On second thought, all of the actors range from mediocre to b-movie with the (major) exception of Fred Gwynne. He sells the movie and I’m sure whatever nostalgia glasses people have on while praising this film can be attributed to his stellar performance amidst a poor script.Overall, it’s a bad movie. A beautiful looking movie that truly shines in 4k. But a bad one. Grab it only if it’s dirt cheap and you just want something pretty to look at.

Ok
Had an issue with the first one that was sent, the box looked like someone had sat on it, really mangled. I was able to send it back and was sent another one. It works fine, but again the box was severely mangled and even broken in places. I understand it’s an old movie, but they’re not that hard to take care of.

As Good as You Remember It
Gen X classic. Of course it leaves out a lot of what was in the book, every movie does. Bluray-only release is basically no-frills. Case came smooshed, but that seems to be par for Amazon’s shipping in paper bags these days. One slight bonus – digital copy redeemed the 2019 release, so kind of got two movies for one, even though I like the 1980’s version better, but make sure you redeem the digital code in case you get the same.
