Fun and entertaining yes ,accurate no.
If you’ve read the SNL biography you’ll know this movie jumps around from year to year. Still it’s exciting to have a movie made about the original cast. I thought the George Carlin and Garret Morris actors were the best .However I found the casting for Anne Beatts to be weak and also the lack of scenes with Anne to be disappointing.Also the extras for this blue ray are good.

As good as an episode of SNL
Exhilarating film, second only to WICKED this year. Brilliant, honest directing, frenetic when it needs to be, slowing down at exactly the right moments, a superb ensemble of young actors, hilarious dialogue, with all the true stuff that happened included. Worked for a non-SNL fan, a true time-capsule.

I love this movie
I am a big fan of Saturday Night Live. When I saw the Trailer for this, I knew I needed to watch it. I loved every minute of this movie. Sure there are some embellished parts in the movie, but if u are a fan of the original Not Ready For Prime Time cast, u will live this. The cast does an amazing job with portraying their comedian. I would highly recommend this movie for fans of the original Not Ready For Prime Time Cast.

SNL fact or fiction?
This got mixed reviews and hearing from some of the original members of the cast perhaps some inaccurate stories 🤷🏻(not sure I’m believing Chevy Chase). But Lorne Michaels was there and signed off. I remember watching the first SNL (mostly because I was a huge Carlin fan) and they Jason Reitman definitely got the stuff in front of the camera spot on! I thought the entire cast captured the essence of the original cast. I definitely learned about things that have been rumored for years. Totally believe Chevy lobbied to get his girlfriend as much screen time as possible and that’s why he lashed out, but Reitman portrayed in most in a positive light. Chevy burned so many bridges and was the biggest detriment to his own career (see Parks and Recs cast interviews). I think he hurt this not getting more people to support the film. But if you’re still an SNL fan which has had its ups and downs it’s such a part of mainstream television and this film shows how it all almost never started. I’m not one of those people who pine for the original cast and say it was so much better in the old days! If you truly watch every season they all have great shows and those that are clunkers. The biggest down time imo was when Lorne left and not sure where this goes starting in year 51, but can’t imagine not having SNL as part of our culture? I like Jason Reitman since Up in the Air and because of his Dad and upbringing he was the perfect pick to direct this. If you’re a fan of the show this is a great look at how it started. If you have peacock or own the physical editions of the first 5 seasons watch the first episode as soon as you can after seeing this film and I think you’ll agree that Reitman likely got it correct. Maybe I’m wrong? But you’ll see he got what’s in front of the camera pretty spot on!

Live from New York it’s Saturday night.
As a kid of the 80s my dad raised me on reruns of the not ready for prime time players. This movie gets it right. I was there opening night in the theater and I picked up the blu ray on preorder.

My wife and I saw this movie opening weekend and thought that it was a perfect homage to SNL and it’s premiere episode from October 1975. The cast were excellent representations of the people who brought the very first episode of SNL to life. I didn’t care for the “We’re all Satan” scene, but the rest of the movie was fantastic. I also liked that Reitman incorporated parts of the show that didn’t necessarily happen the first night of it’s premiere, but they were still pivotal moments and he did a great job making those scenes feel natural and not forced. Can’t wait to watch this with commentary!
