In this terrifying, action-fueled film based on the MARVEL comic series, five young people who demonstrate special powers are brought to a secret institution to undergo treatments they are told will cure them of the dangers of their powers. Included are Danielle Moonstar aka Mirage (Blu Hunt), who creates illusions from other people’s fears; Rahne Sinclair (Maisie Williams), who transforms into the werewolf Wolfsbane; Sam Guthrie (Charlie Heaton), who, as Cannonball, can fly at jet speeds protected by a force field; Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot (Henry Zaga), who absorbs and channels solar power; and Illyana Rasputin aka Magik (Anya Taylor-Joy). The younger sister of Colossus, Magik becomes encased in armor at will and wields a soulsword that amplifies her multiple superhuman and psychic abilities. Invited by Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga) to share their stories about when their powers first manifested, the five “patients” come to understand that they are in a class of people called mutants, who have historically been marginalized and feared. As they relive their origin stories, their memories seem to turn into terrifying realities. Soon, they question what is real and what isn’t, and it becomes clear that the institution isn’t what it seems. Now the question is — why are they being held captive? And who is trying to destroy them? The tension and horror mount in this white-knuckle thrill ride directed by Josh Boone and co-written by Boone and Knate Lee. The New Mutants Blu-ray
Based on the comic book ‘New Mutants,’ a spinoff of ‘X-Men.’ The New Mutants Blu-ray

Meh.
It could have been worse, but it also could have been so much better. The characters, while they true to the comics, somehow felt like tropes of themselves. It wasn’t the acting though, it was the writing, or maybe the editing? The actual plot was entirely predictable, even if you’ve never read the comics or seen an X-Men movie or cartoon before, it was still entirely predictable. It felt choppy, rushed, cliched, and very ham fisted. The New Mutants felt like someone’s poor recap of the story, it lacked details and finesse. We were given clumsy and ham fisted quickie intros to the characters stories, which felt under developed. Their narratives were forced and sloppy, as if the writers decided we already knew their stories, so there was no reason to actually bother telling it to us. It also genuinely feels like there are chunks of scenes missing from this movie, and some scenes just feel…out of place, they don’t actually provide character development, they’re just there to serve as roadstops on the expected and predictable story being told. The trailers teased a much better movie, and it could have been a much better movie, it was a great cast, with great effects, a creepy set. The camera work, the costumes, the acting, everything else worked, just not the actual story. So I give it a hearty Meh. It didn’t suck, but it did disappoint.

Well done, fun, and more jump scares than I anticipated
Although I do love comics, I have never read The New Mutants. This film is fun to watch and requires no comics knowledge. A group of teenagers in a sketchy hospital and weird happenings is 90% of the movie. But, the final 10% is a kick ass super powered brawl. A lot of fun to watch.

I actually liked this movie
I actually liked this movie.I heard all sorts of negative things about the movie, but after watching it I find myself quite satisfied. I feel like the opinions of critics can often spoil our opinion of a movie even before we watch them.An overall problem with professional critiquing of movies, in general, is that the opinions of many usually do not coincide with the opinions of everyone.I put this movie off watching this movie because I let myself be influenced by the negative reviews of peers who watched it and the ratings on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB. But watching this movie made me think and also remember that, just like everyone else, I am entitled to have my own opinion. I did see a few flaws in this movie, but I think that given many political and economic factors, this movie did well with the hand it was dealt with.I like this movie and that is my opinion. To whoever reads this, watch the movie, you decide, but don’t tell others not to watch it because of your opinion. And if you enjoy it, it’s still your opinion.

Marvel Mutants with Horror, Wasted Potential But Still Potential that we need to promote
Its a cheap 5.99 purchase, lot of good stuff here. Cast being the best thing. Lesser known characters, obviously lower budget but still some real raw talent in this film on either side. Its worth a watch, its worth a review and to promote more Marvel films without the standard plots.

Not bad
Not bad. I did enjoy their acting and the storyline is not that bad. However, I did find it weird that only one person was holding all the mutants and nobody else was there. Basically one actor is doctor and everything else.
