Kevin Bacon's Horrifying Nightmare | You Should Have Left 2020

You Should Have Left is a 2020 American psychological horror film written and directed by David Koepp, based on the 2017 German novella by Daniel Kehlmann. The movie stars Kevin Bacon, Amanda Seyfried, and Avery Essex. The story follows Theo Conroy, a successful middle-aged banker with a troubled past, who is married to a much younger actress, Susanna. Their relationship is strained by his jealousy and the lingering suspicion that he may have been responsible for his first wife's death, for which he was acquitted. To mend their relationship, Theo and Susanna rent a stunning, remote modern home in the Welsh countryside for a vacation with their six-year-old daughter, Ella. What begins as a peaceful retreat quickly devolves into a nightmare. Strange and unsettling events begin to occur within the house, which seems to defy the laws of space and time, with rooms appearing larger inside than they are from the outside. Theo starts to experience terrifying visions and nightmares that blur the line between reality and his suppressed guilt. As the family's sanity unravels, Theo realizes the house is not just haunted, but a malevolent entity that knows his darkest secrets and refuses to let them leave. The film builds to a chilling revelation that connects the house's power to Theo's past actions, forcing him to confront the true nature of his sin.
