Cleaner 2025
Set in early 2025, the action thriller Cleaner follows Joey Locke, a former Special Reconnaissance Regiment soldier turned window cleaner, who is forced back into combat when a radical activist group called Earth Revolution seizes a high-society gala at London's One Canada Square. While Joey is suspended 50 stories up on the building's exterior with her brother Michael, the group's leader, Marcus Blake, attempts to expose the Agnian Energy Company's corruption. However, the situation turns violent when a rogue member named Noah murders Marcus and takes control, planning to execute 300 hostages to send a global message. Trapped on the glass facade, Joey uses her military expertise and climbing gear to wage a one-woman war against the terrorists, eventually killing Noah in a high-altitude confrontation and leaking the company's incriminating data to the public before escaping to safety. The film is directed by Martin Campbell and features a cast led by Daisy Ridley as Joey Locke, with Clive Owen portraying the activist leader Marcus Blake and Taz Skylar as the ruthless antagonist Noah. Supporting performances include Matthew Tuck as Michael Locke, Ruth Gemmell as Superintendent Claire Hume, and Ray Fearon as Kahn. Campbell’s direction brings a grounded, gritty tone to the skyscraper-set action, focusing on practical stunts and the unique verticality of the protagonist’s profession.Despite its high-profile lead and director, Cleaner had a limited theatrical run and earned a modest $1.31 million at the worldwide box office against a production budget of approximately $25 million. The film transitioned quickly to digital platforms, making its streaming debut on Max in the United States in June 2025. For viewers in the United Kingdom, the movie is available through Sky Cinema and the NOW streaming service, while international audiences can find it on Lionsgate Play. It was also released on physical media, including 4K Ultra HD and DVD, in late April 2025.

I feel many of the reviews posted here are being very unfair to this film. We feel the same exhilaration for our loner character taking on the terrorists as we did with the Bruce Willis flick, and the fact that it is a strong woman character gives the film an extra punch. Both Daisy Ridley and Taz Skylar deliver standout performances. The action scenes are just as thrilling to watch as they were in Die Hard. I'd also argue that there is far more character development here than there ever was in Dire Hard. Also, almost all the user reviews completely ignore the unique brother - sister aspect to the story. Of course its "generic," It's a genre picture. But so was Die Hard to begin with. I found the movie great fun and thoroughly enjoyable.
