Matthew Wood is a highly distinguished American sound editor and voice actor, primarily known for his extensive contributions to the Star Wars franchise. Born on August 15, 1972, he is a supervising sound editor at Skywalker Sound, the renowned sound design division of Lucasfilm. Wood began his career at Lucasfilm in the early 1990s as a game tester before transitioning into the sound department. He has served as supervising sound editor on all three films of the Star Wars prequel trilogy ("The Phantom Menace," "Attack of the Clones," and "Revenge of the Sith"), and has continued this role on numerous subsequent Star Wars films and series, including "The Force Awakens," "The Last Jedi," "The Rise of Skywalker," "Rogue One," "Solo," "The Mandalorian," "Obi-Wan Kenobi," "Ahsoka," and "Andor," among many others.Beyond his sound editing work, Wood is also a recognizable voice actor, most notably providing the voice for General Grievous in "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith" and in the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." He also voices numerous other characters across the Star Wars universe, including various battle droids, Bib Fortuna, and more.
