Smokey and the Bandit is a quintessential 1977 American action-comedy road film directed by stuntman-turned-director Hal Needham in his directorial debut. The film stars Burt Reynolds as the charismatic trucker Bo "Bandit" Darville, who, with his partner Cledus "Snowman" Snow (Jerry Reed), takes on a high-stakes bet to illegally transport 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana, Texas, to Atlanta, Georgia, in just 28 hours. Since Coors beer couldn't be sold east of the Mississippi River at the time, this mission is a form of bootlegging.
