The Black Demon 2023

The 2023 science fiction thriller film The Black Demon, directed by Adrian Grünberg, centers on themes of corporate negligence, environmental retribution, and ancient legend. Upon arrival, their boat is destroyed by a massive, ancient megalodon shark, which the locals call the "Black Demon" (El Demonio Negro), believing it to be a vengeful herald of the Aztec god of rain, Tlaloc, punishing those who exploit nature. Stranded on the rig, Paul and his family, along with Chato and Junior, must fight for survival against the relentless shark and the deteriorating rig. The peril escalates as Paul discovers a demolition bomb attached to the rig by Nixon Oil, a sinister plan to eliminate him and cover up the massive oil spill for which the company intends to frame him. After Junior is killed, Chato reveals that Nixon Oil ignored repeated warnings and safety reports. Realizing his company's treachery and the imminent danger, Paul decides to sacrifice himself to seal the oil leak and destroy the shark. He straps the bomb to himself and allows the Black Demon to consume him; the resulting detonation kills the creature and collapses the rig. Paul's surviving family and Chato escape, intending to use the documents Paul gave them to hold Nixon Oil accountable, as a cleansing rainstorm begins. The main cast also includes Venus Ariel as Audrey and Carlos Solórzano as Tommy.
