The Housemaid 2025
The Housemaid, a psychological thriller scheduled for theatrical release on December 19, 2025, is the highly anticipated film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s 2022 bestselling novel. Directed by Paul Feig (A Simple Favor, Bridesmaids) with a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine, the film stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie Calloway, a young woman with a troubled past who accepts a live-in housekeeping job for a wealthy family in hopes of a fresh start. Amanda Seyfried plays her employer, the erratic and glamorous Nina Winchester, while Brandon Sklenar portrays Nina’s seemingly perfect but tormented husband, Andrew. As Millie settles into their luxurious Long Island home to care for their daughter Cecelia (played by newcomer Indiana Elle), she uncovers sinister secrets hiding behind the family's polished façade, realizing her own dark history may be the only thing that can save her. The cast also features Michele Morrone as the family's mysterious gardener, Enzo, and Elizabeth Perkins as Andrew's mother. Produced by Lionsgate and Hidden Pictures, the film was shot on location in New Jersey and has already received high praise from author Freida McFadden, who called the adaptation "better than the book" after an early screening.
