Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman (born April 29, 1970) is a statuesque and critically acclaimed American actress who rose to global prominence with a diverse and often unconventional body of work. She began her career as a fashion model before transitioning to acting, gaining early recognition in films like the Oscar-winning drama Dangerous Liaisons (1988) and the boundary-pushing Henry & June (1990). Thurman's career-defining moment came with her starring role as the mesmerizing, mysterious gangster wife Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 masterpiece, Pulp Fiction, a performance that earned her an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She is perhaps equally famous for her second iconic collaboration with Tarantino as Beatrix Kiddo, simply known as "The Bride," in the two-part martial arts epic Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004). This role, which required intense physical training, saw her become a modern action icon and earned her two more Golden Globe nominations, solidifying her status as Tarantino's muse. Beyond her Tarantino work, Thurman has starred in films across various genres, including the sci-fi thriller Gattaca (1997), the superhero flop Batman & Robin (1997) as Poison Ivy, and the Golden Globe-winning television film Hysterical Blindness (2002). More recently, she starred in the crime comedy thriller The Kill Room (2023) alongside her daughter, Maya Hawke, and Samuel L. Jackson, and is slated to appear as the villain Discord in the upcoming Netflix film The Old Guard 2.
