Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is the complete, unified version of Quentin Tarantino's two-part martial arts epic, Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004), presented as a single, over four-hour film, which was Tarantino's original intended format. This combined feature tells the entire story of The Bride/Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman), a former assassin who wakes up from a four-year coma and embarks on a "roaring rampage of revenge" against the members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad—including O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu), Vernita Green (Vivica A. Fox), Budd (Michael Madsen), and Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah)—and their leader, her former lover, Bill (David Carradine), who betrayed her and left her for dead at her wedding rehearsal. The cut, which has a reported runtime of approximately 281 minutes (4 hours and 41 minutes) including an intermission for its upcoming nationwide release, is an unrated experience. Key differences from the separate two-volume release include the removal of the cliffhanger at the end of Vol. 1 and the recap at the beginning of Vol. 2. Most significantly, The Whole Bloody Affair incorporates a 7.5-minute animated sequence that was never seen in the theatrical releases of the individual volumes. It also features the infamous House of Blue Leaves fight scene (The Bride vs. the Crazy 88) completely in color, which was originally rendered in black-and-white in the US theatrical cut of Vol. 1 to avoid an NC-17 rating, giving the carnage its full, bloody impact.
