A Breed Apart 2025
A Breed Apart, released in 2025 and directed by The Furst Brothers (Griff Furst and Nathan Furst), unfolds a bizarre tale blending action, horror, and comedy. The narrative kicks off with rebel Violet (Grace Caroline Currey) unexpectedly invited to a secluded island alongside a group of prominent social media influencers. What they anticipate as a weekend of prime photo opportunities swiftly descends into a terrifying reality show. These influencers find themselves unwilling participants in a gruesome contest, forced to capture the island's legendary man-eating dogs to avoid becoming their next meal. The film layers in a meta-commentary by referencing a fictional, ill-fated production of the 2006 movie The Breed, which ironically also revolved around killer dogs on an island. The cast includes Hayden Panettiere, Virginia Gardner, Riele Downs, Troy Gentile, Joey Bragg, Page Kennedy, and Zak Steiner. Released in the UK on May 16, 2025, and in the US on May 17, 2025, the film is available via VOD/Rent. Critical reception has been largely negative, citing issues with the plot, acting (with some exceptions), and particularly the poor visual effects of the dogs, leading some to label it a "so bad it's hilarious" movie.
