"California King" is a 2025 comedy film directed and written by Eli Stern. The movie stars Travis Bennett as Perry, a mild-mannered mattress store manager who is hopelessly in love with his high school crush, Lynette (Victoria Justice). When Lynette announces she's leaving town, Perry, desperate to win her affection, teams up with his reckless best friend Wyatt (Jimmy Tatro) to concoct a harebrained scheme. Their plan involves staging a fake kidnapping of Lynette's annoying younger brother, with the intention for Perry to swoop in as the hero and "rescue" him. However, their ill-conceived plot quickly goes awry when the younger brother is genuinely kidnapped, spiraling Perry and Wyatt into a chaotic and fast-talking crime caper. What begins as a misguided romantic gesture escalates into a series of misadventures involving local drug dealers, the police, and a web of deceptions, forcing Perry to outwit criminals, cops, and his own terrible decisions before his entire life goes up in flames.
