La Fille d'un grand amour 2025
Directed by Agnès de Sacy, the 2025 French-Belgian drama "La Fille d'un grand amour" (released internationally as Child of True Love) tells the poignant story of Ana (Isabelle Carré) and Yves (François Damiens), a former couple who shared a legendary, passionate romance decades ago before a painful separation. The narrative is set in motion when their daughter, Cécile (Claire Duburcq), a film student at the Fémis, decides to create a documentary exploring the history of her parents' meeting and subsequent breakup. When the family reunites for a screening of the film, the experience reignites old embers, forcing Ana and Yves to confront their shared history and attempt to find a new path back to one another under Cécile's watchful lens. The cast is rounded out by strong supporting performances from Marc Bodnar as Santiago, Pascal Bonitzer as a Fémis professor, and Guilaine Londez as Éliane. Since its theatrical release on January 8, 2025, the film has maintained a modest but steady presence at the box office, grossing approximately $744,879 in France during its initial run across a peak of 430 theaters. While a major global "day-and-date" streaming release was not implemented, the film is primarily available through France.tv and various VOD platforms in French-speaking territories. Internationally, it has seen limited distribution through arthouse platforms like MUBI in select regions and remains a staple in European cinema circuits.
