Marsupilami 2026
Directed by Philippe Lacheau, the 2026 film Marsupilami is a high-energy French family adventure comedy scheduled for release on February 4, 2026. This live-action adaptation marks the return of André Franquin's legendary yellow creature to the big screen for the first time since 2012. The story follows David (played by Philippe Lacheau), a zoo employee desperate to save his job. He agrees to transport a mysterious package from South America, which he secretly smuggles onto a cruise ship with the help of his naive colleague, Stéphane (Julien Arruti). David is also accompanied by his ex-partner Tess (Élodie Fontan) and their son Léo (Corentin Guillot). Chaos erupts when Stéphane accidentally opens the package, releasing an unpredictable and adorable baby Marsupilami. As the creature causes havoc across the ocean liner, the family must work together to protect it while evading various threats, eventually rediscovering their own family bonds. The film is a major production from Pathé and BAF Prod, with a substantial budget of approximately €28.68 million. Written by the "Fifi Gang" writing team (Lacheau, Arruti, Pierre Lacheau, and Pierre Dudan), the movie aims to blend modern visual effects with the slapstick humor characteristic of Lacheau’s previous hits like Alibi.com and Babysitting. The film has a runtime of approximately 99 minutes and will be distributed internationally following its French theatrical debut.
