Mercy 2026
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted), Mercy is a high-stakes sci-fi thriller scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026. Set in a near-future Los Angeles where the legal system has been overhauled by technology, the story follows Detective Chris Raven (played by Chris Pratt), a man who was once a vocal champion of a "Mercy Capital Court" system that uses artificial intelligence to eliminate human error. In a twist of fate, Raven finds himself accused of murdering his wife and must stand trial before the very system he helped implement. He is given just 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the cold, advanced AI judge, Maddox (portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson), before a final verdict is reached. The film features a strong supporting cast including Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Chris Sullivan, and Kenneth Choi. Produced by Charles Roven (Oppenheimer) and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, Mercy is designed as an immersive cinematic experience, filmed specifically for IMAX and 3D formats. The narrative explores the ethical complexities of AI-driven justice and the terrifying reality of a high-tech legal system where the clock is literally ticking toward a life-or-death decision.
