Silent Night, Deadly Night 2025
Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025) is a horror slasher film that serves as a modern reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult classic. Directed and written by Mike P. Nelson (known for Wrong Turn 2021), the film centers on the traumatized Billy Chapman, played by Rohan Campbell, who grows up to become a killer Santa, driven by the childhood trauma of witnessing his parents' murder by a man in a Santa suit. Unlike the original, this version portrays Billy as a killer who primarily targets the "naughty" and features a strong psychological element, including a voice in his head, Charlie (Mark Acheson), compelling his actions. The plot follows Billy as he arrives in the small town of Hackett and takes a job at a Christmas trinket shop, where he forms an unexpected and dark romantic connection with his coworker, Pamela "Pam" Sims, played by Ruby Modine. This new dynamic, described by the creators as a "Hallmark movie drenched in blood," is a significant departure from the original, with the story exploring their mutually troubled personalities. The film, which has a running time of approximately 96 minutes, premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 21, 2025, and was released theatrically by Cineverse on December 12, 2025. Principal photography took place entirely in Manitoba, Canada, with Winnipeg serving as the main production base, chosen for its authentic winter setting.
