Altered 2025

Directed by Timo Vuorensola (best known for the cult hit Iron Sky), Altered is a dystopian sci-fi action film set in a society strictly divided between genetically enhanced elites and the "unenhanced" underclass. The story follows Leon, a mechanic who uses a wheelchair, and his companion Chloe, who live on the fringes of this oppressive world. When they uncover a government conspiracy to eradicate the unenhanced population entirely, Leon must weaponizes his mechanical skills—literally turning himself into a makeshift cyborg—to lead a resistance. Tom Felton (Harry Potter) stars as the reluctant hero Leon, alongside Liza Bugulova as Chloe. The cast also features Richard Brake (Barbarian) as the villainous politician orchestrating the purge and Aggy K. Adams as a pop star entangled in the conflict. The film has received a largely negative reception from critics, often described as a "muddled" and "derivative" B-movie. While the premise shows promise, reviews have criticized the execution for its "cheap" visual effects, clunky dialogue, and lack of subtle social commentary, frequently comparing it unfavorably to better films like District 9 or Elysium. However, Tom Felton has been praised for his committed performance in a physically demanding role, managing to bring some emotional weight to a script that many found otherwise forgettable. Altered received a limited theatrical release in the United States on November 21, 2025, distributed by Well Go USA. Due to its limited screen count, domestic box office figures are negligible, though it did manage to gross approximately $316,000 internationally (primarily from an earlier release in Russia/CIS territories). Simultaneous with its US theatrical debut, it was released on digital VOD platforms (Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu) on November 21, 2025, meaning it is currently available to rent or purchase for home viewing.
