Hurry Up Tomorrow 2025
Hurry Up Tomorrow, a 2025 American musical psychological thriller directed and edited by Trey Edward Shults, delves into the tumultuous world of a globally famous, insomniac musician named Abel (played by Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye). Following a public breakdown and grappling with the aftermath of a recent heartbreak, Abel escapes into heavy drug use and partying during his world tour, much to the concern of his manager Lee (Barry Keoghan). His life takes a surreal turn when he encounters Anima (Jenna Ortega), a mysterious and troubled young fan on the run after an arson incident. Feeling an inexplicable connection, Abel and Anima embark on a night of anonymity at Pacific Park, seeking refuge from their chaotic realities. However, their escape is short-lived, leading to betrayal, violence, and a confrontation that forces Abel to confront his self-destructive path and seek a semblance of rebirth. The film, which serves as a companion piece to The Weeknd's sixth studio album of the same name, explores themes of fame, identity, addiction, and the search for genuine connection amidst the isolating world of stardom. The cast also includes Riley Keough as the voice of Anima's mother and a girl on voicemail, Gabby Barrett as Isabella, and Charli D'Amelio as a dancer. Hurry Up Tomorrow, with a runtime of 105-116 minutes, was released today, May 16, 2025, in the United States by Lionsgate.
