Major Grom: The Game (Mayor Grom. Igra) 2024
Released in 2024, Major Grom: The Game is a Russian superhero action film directed by Oleg Trofim, based on the popular Bubble Comics series. The film serves as a sequel to Major Grom: Plague Doctor and picks up one year after the events of the first film. Police Major Igor Grom (Tikhon Zhiznevsky) has become a celebrated hero in St. Petersburg for his role in stopping the Plague Doctor, Sergei Razumovsky (Sergei Goroshko). However, his newfound celebrity is short-lived when a new, mysterious villain calling himself the Ghost emerges. The Ghost begins a dangerous "game" with Grom, initiating a series of terrorist attacks that threaten the city and its citizens. The attacks, including the explosions of major landmarks, turn public opinion against Grom, who is unable to prevent them. As Grom's popularity plummets, his boss, Fyodor Prokopenko (Aleksey Maklakov), is forced to resign, and the city's police force is put under the control of Maria Arkhipova (Olga Sutulova), who plans to replace officers with drones. With his reputation in tatters and his methods questioned, Grom, along with his partner Dima Dubin (Aleksandr Seteykin) and journalist Yulia Pchyolkina (Lyubov Aksyonova), must race against time to uncover the Ghost's identity and stop his deadly plan. The film delves into a complex plot involving corporate greed, revenge, and a conspiracy that leads Grom back to the imprisoned Sergei Razumovsky, who seems to be at the center of the Ghost's scheme. The film was released on May 23, 2024, after premiering at the 46th Moscow International Film Festival.
