O'Dessa 2025

'O'Dessa', released on Hulu on March 20, 2025, is a post-apocalyptic musical drama that reimagines the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Written and directed by Geremy Jasper, the film stars Sadie Sink as O'Dessa, a farm girl living in a future ravaged by a toxic substance called plazma. After her mother's death, O'Dessa inherits her father's guitar and embarks on a journey to the dangerous Satylite City to fulfill her destiny as the "Seventh Son," a prophesied musical savior. Along the way, her guitar is stolen, leading her to Euri Dervish (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), a musician and sex worker under the control of the brutal Neon Dion (Regina Hall), the enforcer for the tyrannical Plutonovich (Murray Bartlett). O'Dessa and Euri fall in love and plan to escape, but their plans are thwarted, leading O'Dessa on a quest to rescue him from Plutonovich's oppressive regime, using the power of her music. The film, which also features Murray Bartlett and Pokey LaFarge, premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival and runs for 106 minutes, blending elements of musical, sci-fi, and Western genres in its unique narrative.
