Eternity 2025

The film Eternity (2025) is an American fantasy romantic comedy directed by David Freyne, who co-wrote the script with Pat Cunnane, and is distributed by A24. The high-concept story is set in a vibrant, '60s-inspired afterlife "Junction" or waystation, where recently deceased souls are reverted to the age they were happiest and given one week to choose where they will spend their eternal existence from a catalogue of "Eternities." The central plot revolves around a complicated love triangle involving the character Joan (Elizabeth Olsen), who arrives in the afterlife shortly after her husband, Larry (Miles Teller). Larry, having died abruptly, waited for Joan and is now tasked with finding their shared perfect eternity. However, Joan is also reunited with her first love, Luke (Callum Turner), who died decades earlier in the Korean War and has been waiting for her in the Junction ever since, working as a bartender instead of moving on. The core conflict forces Joan to choose between Larry, the comfortable and known partner she built a life with, and Luke, the passionate, idealized first love whose life with her was tragically cut short. Guiding them are their respective Afterlife Coordinators (ACs), Anna (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) and Ryan (John Early), who add a layer of comedic relief and exposition to the afterlife's quirky bureaucracy.
