She Rides Shotgun 2025

Directed by Nick Rowland, She Rides Shotgun is a gritty crime thriller based on the award-winning novel by Jordan Harper. The story follows Nate, a hardened ex-convict who is released from prison only to find he has been marked for death by the "Aryan Steel," a ruthless white supremacist prison gang he crossed on the inside. With nowhere to run, he decides to protect the only leverage they could use against him: his estranged 11-year-old daughter, Polly. He scoops her up from school, and the two embark on a desperate, violence-filled road trip. Along the way, Nate teaches Polly not just how to survive, but how to fight back, transforming her from a shy schoolgirl into a "little gunfighter" as they bond over their shared peril. Taron Egerton (Kingsman, Rocketman) stars as the desperate father Nate, delivering a darker, more physical performance than usual. He is joined by breakout child star Ana Sophia Heger as Polly, with John Carroll Lynch playing the villainous gang leader Houser and Rob Yang as the detective tracking them. The film has received a positive reception from critics, currently holding a "Fresh" rating of approximately 79–88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews have praised the film for transcending standard B-movie tropes through its strong emotional core. Taron Egerton’s performance has been highlighted as "ferocious" and "tender," but the real acclaim has gone to young Ana Sophia Heger, with critics calling her a "revelation" who holds her own against seasoned actors. The film is often described as a tense, modern neo-Western that blends the road-movie genre with brutal, bone-crunching violence, similar to Logan or Blue Ruin. She Rides Shotgun had a limited theatrical release starting August 1, 2025, distributed by Lionsgate. Because it was a smaller, targeted release rather than a wide blockbuster, its box office gross was minimal (reported under $100,000 internationally) as the strategy focused on home entertainment. Following its theatrical and VOD rental window, the film just made its subscription streaming debut. It became available on Amazon Prime Video on November 25, 2025, and is scheduled to premiere on MGM+ on November 29, 2025.
