The Witch: Part 2. The Other One (2022)
A genetically engineered girl known as Ark 1 (Shin Si‑ah), the sole survivor of a secret lab raid, escapes with unstoppable psychic powers. She’s rescued by Kyung‑hee (Park Eun‑bin) and her brother Dae‑gil (Sung Yoo‑bin), who reluctantly shelter her. As multiple factions—mercenaries, rival labs, and mysterious operatives—close in, their lives spiral into danger. Ark’s origins and familial ties to the first film's witch, Ja‑yoon (brief cameo by Kim Da‑mi), come into play as the larger conspiracy unravels.🎥 Visual Style Critics highlight its blend of telekinetic battles, dark tone, and high-energy action, drawing comparisons to Stranger Things, Orphan Black, and even The Matrix. The aesthetic emphasizes sleek violence and psychic mayhem with a glossy, modern style. Still, some viewers felt the sequel lacks the suspense of its predecessor, diving early into superhero tropes and cluttered ensemble plots.📊 Critics Rotten Tomatoes: 82% critics’ score (17 reviews), 68% Popcornmeter. User Rating: ~6.2/10 (Gadgets 360), ~6.8 on Metacritic (user score).Critics’ Highlights: RogerEbert.com calls it “solid teenage‑oriented sci‑fi/horror,” noting it doesn’t repeat the first film but functions more as a bridge to part 3. AsianMovieWeb praises its tone and finale, though criticized the middling script and flat characters in mid‑film, yet finds it rewarding in the end. FilmHounds remarks it moves from mystery to full‑on slapstick superhero action, which dilutes narrative focus. Some Reddit discussions echoed similar concerns:“it just felt all over the place … didn’t feel anything for any of the characters” and “underwhelming” criticism around emotion and pacing💰 Box Office Performance Here’s the worldwide box office for The Witch: Part 2 – The Other One (2022): Worldwide gross: approximately US $23.07 million. Breakdown: International (non‑US markets): ~US $22.92–22.93 million Domestic (United States & Canada): ~US $143,723, representing about 0.6% of the global total.Surpassed 2 million moviegoers in South Korea within 11 days—faster than its prequel. In South Korea alone, it earned roughly US $22.16 million, accounting for the vast majority of its international haul.🎯 Conclusion – The Witch: Part 2. The Other One (2022) The Witch: Part 2. The Other One expands the dark, sci-fi world introduced in the first film with higher stakes, new characters, and larger-scale psychic action. It shifts from the intimate suspense of Part 1 to a broader, more chaotic narrative that sets the stage for a trilogy finale. While it delivers impressive visuals and intriguing lore, the story can feel cluttered, with too many subplots and less emotional depth than its predecessor. In short:A bold, visually thrilling sequel that builds the franchise’s universe, though it may feel uneven for viewers expecting the mystery and restraint of the first film. Best enjoyed as a bridge to Part 3.

I wasn't quite engaged through its convoluted new characters' stories but Park Hoon-jung didn't let us down with some cute/cringey moments and gruesome kills. At least superhuman concepts in convincing world building will live to see another day in Part 3.
