Zack Snyder's Justice League 2021

The film follows Bruce Wayne as he teams up with Diana Prince to recruit a group of meta-humans, including Arthur Curry (Aquaman), Barry Allen (The Flash), and Victor Stone (Cyborg), to face the powerful intergalactic threat of Steppenwolf. Steppenwolf seeks to conquer Earth by uniting three Mother Boxes, ancient alien devices capable of immense destructive power. The movie explores Bruce's personal journey in the wake of Superman's death, Diana's ongoing mission to protect humanity, and the formation of a team that must battle Steppenwolf and the looming threat of Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips. Zack Snyder's Justice League is notably darker in tone, with expanded character arcs, especially for Cyborg and the Flash, who were not as well-developed in the theatrical version. The film is structured around the idea of a hero’s journey, a monumental team-up that ultimately sets the stage for the epic battle against Darkseid.💰 Box Office Performance Since it was primarily a streaming release, it did not generate significant box office revenue. However: It had limited theatrical screenings in select countries (e.g. China and some IMAX events). In China, the film earned an estimated $1.3 million in limited release. No official global box office total exists because Warner Bros. released it as a streaming-first title to boost HBO Max subscriptions.🌟 Key Differences from the 2017 Theatrical Release Tone & Style: The Snyder Cut maintains Snyder's signature darker, more somber tone. It’s more serious and less comedic than the 2017 version. Length: The original theatrical cut was about 120 minutes, whereas the Snyder Cut is over 4 hours, giving much more room for character development and additional plot elements. Cyborg’s Arc: Cyborg (played by Ray Fisher) has a much larger role in the Snyder Cut. The film explores his backstory, motivations, and his connection to the Mother Boxes, which were largely sidelined in the original version. Steppenwolf: In Snyder’s version, Steppenwolf is presented as a much more menacing villain with clearer motives. The design of Steppenwolf is also vastly improved with more intricate CGI and a more imposing appearance. Darkseid: The Snyder Cut introduces Darkseid (voiced by Ray Porter), who is revealed as the true power behind Steppenwolf’s mission. Darkseid's presence and threat loom large, making him a central figure for potential sequels in Snyder's intended story arc. Superman’s Return: Superman’s return is handled differently. In the Snyder Cut, it is more grandiose, and his resurrection is tied into a deeper narrative thread, with his battle against the Justice League being a key moment before he fully joins the team. Flash’s Role: The Flash (Ezra Miller) gets a more significant arc, including a pivotal scene at the end where he changes the course of time to help defeat Steppenwolf, a moment that was brief in the theatrical cut. Music: The music score by Junkie XL (Tom Holkenborg) is widely praised for its emotional depth and fits the film's tone. In contrast, the 2017 film featured a score by Danny Elfman, which was more aligned with previous DC films.🎨 Special Features The film was presented as a four-part miniseries on HBO Max, with each part having its own title: Part One: Don’t Count on It, Batman Part Two: The Age of Heroes Part Three: Beloved Mother, Beloved Son Part Four: Change Machine The film also features a post-credit scene, which hints at future storylines involving the characters.🧠 Critics Critical Response: The Snyder Cut was met with a much more positive reception than the 2017 theatrical release. Critics and fans praised its depth, visual style, and character development, particularly for Cyborg and the Flash. Audience Reaction: Fans of Zack Snyder’s previous DC films (like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) appreciated the dark tone and thematic consistency. However, the movie’s long runtime proved divisive, with some viewers enjoying the extra content, while others found it difficult to sit through. Awards: The film garnered some attention in awards circuits, including for its visual effects and the restoration of Snyder's original vision.🌍 Cultural Impact The release of Zack Snyder's Justice League is seen as a triumph for fan advocacy. After years of campaigning by fans who were unsatisfied with the 2017 theatrical release, the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement succeeded in getting Warner Bros. to approve the completion and release of Snyder’s original vision. It represents a rare instance where fans were able to bring about the release of a director's intended cut of a major blockbuster film.🔮 Future Potential The Snyder Cut doesn’t fully conclude the story that Zack Snyder had envisioned for the Justice League saga. Snyder has mentioned that his story would have expanded into sequels that would deal with Darkseid and the aftermath of the conflict. However, as of now, these sequels are not in active development, and the DC Universe is heading in a new direction with James Gunn's plans for the DCU.🧾 Conclusion Zack Snyder's Justice League represents a more mature and expansive take on the superhero team-up genre, staying true to Snyder’s vision and style. It’s a longer, more deliberate narrative that offers a deeper exploration of its characters and their arcs, making it a significant piece for fans of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).

Zach Snyder's original version is 1000 x's better than the one Joss Whedon put in theaters. DC made a huge mistake not trusting Synder.
