Ash 2025
Released on March 21, 2025, the sci-fi horror film Ash, directed and scored by Flying Lotus (Steven Ellison), stars Eiza González as Riya, an astronaut who awakens on the desolate planet Ash to find her entire crew—Captain Adhi (Iko Uwais), Kevin (Beulah Koale), Davis (Flying Lotus), and the missing Clarke (Kate Elliott)—brutally slaughtered. Suffering from amnesia and haunted by fragmented, nightmarish visions, Riya is joined by a man named Brion (Aaron Paul), who claims to be a rescuer responding to her distress signal. As the two investigate the station, they discover ancient alien terraforming technology that suggests an intelligent, hostile presence. The film’s central twist reveals that Riya’s memories have been manipulated by an intelligent alien parasite; she eventually discovers that the real Brion has been dead for some time, and the version she has been interacting with is a manifestation created by the organism to control her. After a gruesome confrontation where she removes the parasite from her own head and battles its mutated form, Riya manages to escape to an orbital facility, only to realize that the larger space station has already been overtaken by the massive parasitic hive mind. Produced by XYZ Films and RLJE Films, the movie received a limited theatrical release and earned approximately $1.1 million at the domestic box office. Despite its niche financial performance, it gained significant traction through its high-concept visuals and a reported $10 million international distribution deal.Globally, the film is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, while in the United States, it is primarily hosted on Shudder and AMC+, following its debut as a Shudder Original.

Why is this movie edited so poorly...lts Iike we see the same scene in 4 different ways....they have multiple flash backs for all the same scenes, and by the fourth flashback, you already knew what was going on...this have amazing visuals, and amazing fx, but it just didn't do anything for me...MANDY is a much better film that has depth and visuals to make you invested...this movie just didn't push the needle and by the end, i was bored...the Iast 5 minutes were awesome, everything else besides the visuals were mediocre sadly...Shudder is usually hit or miss so I wasn't shocked to see their name on the opening credits...i went in blind, and left bored.
