Kiss of the Spider Woman 2025

Directed and written by Bill Condon, the 2025 film Kiss of the Spider Woman is a musical drama set in 1983 Argentina during the waning days of the Dirty War. The plot centers on the transformative relationship between two cellmates: Luis Molina (Tonatiuh), a queer window dresser, and Valentín Arregui (Diego Luna), a Marxist revolutionary. To survive the brutality of their imprisonment, Molina escapes into a vivid fantasy world, recounting the plots of old Hollywood movies starring the glamorous diva Ingrid Luna (Jennifer Lopez), who appears in dazzling musical sequences as various characters, including the lethal Spider Woman. As the two men move from suspicion to an intimate romantic bond, it is revealed that Molina is being pressured to spy on Valentín to gain parole. Ultimately, Molina chooses love over freedom, sacrificing himself to protect Valentín's comrades after his release, while Valentín is eventually freed and honors Molina's memory by holding onto his red scarf as a symbol of their shared resilience.
