Released on December 25, 2025, Marty Supreme is a hyperkinetic sports comedy-drama directed by Josh Safdie and co-written by Ronald Bronstein, loosely inspired by the life of legendary ping-pong hustler Marty Reisman. Set in 1950s New York City, the film stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a shoe salesman who moonlights as a world-class table tennis player with a relentless, "whatever-it-takes" ambition. The plot follows Marty as he stages a robbery at his own workplace to fund a trip to the British Open, eventually traveling across Japan, Egypt, and the Balkans in pursuit of the world championship. Along the way, he navigates a complex sexual relationship with a wealthy socialite, Kay Stone (Gwyneth Paltrow), and a tumultuous affair with his childhood friend Rachel (Odessa A’zion). The narrative takes a dark, Safdie-esque turn involving a kidnapping and shootout led by criminal Ezra Mishkin (Abel Ferrara), before culminating in an emotional finale where a banned Marty returns home to meet his newborn child.
