Not Without Hope 2025

Directed by Joe Carnahan and based on the harrowing 2010 memoir by Nick Schuyler and Jeré Longman, Not Without Hope (2025) is a survival thriller that dramatizes the true story of the 2009 Gulf of Mexico boating accident. The film was released in theaters on December 12, 2025, following a world premiere at the Austin Film Festival. It follows four friends—Nick Schuyler, his best friend Will Bleakley, and NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith—as they embark on what was intended to be a routine fishing trip 70 miles off the coast of Clearwater, Florida. The production highlights the intense psychological and physical toll of the ordeal, shifting between the survivors' struggle in the water and the desperate rescue efforts led by the U.S. Coast Guard. The narrative begins with the four men departing on the Joe Guy for a day of fishing. While attempting to free an anchor that has become wedged on the ocean floor, a sudden storm hits, and the combination of the trapped anchor and the weight of the boat causes the vessel to capsize, throwing all four men into the freezing, turbulent waters of the Gulf. Stranded on the overturned hull for over 43 hours, the group faces extreme dehydration, severe hypothermia, and the constant threat of shark attacks. As the days pass, the psychological strain leads to hallucinations and despair; tragically, one by one, Marquis, Corey, and Will eventually succumb to the elements and exhaustion. The film concludes with the high-stakes rescue of Nick Schuyler, who managed to cling to the hull until he was spotted by a Coast Guard crew. Financially, the film had a limited theatrical run, primarily targeting select markets and international territories. As of early 2026, its worldwide box office sits at approximately $152,002, reflecting its status as an independent dramatic thriller rather than a major blockbuster.Regarding streaming, Not Without Hope is currently available worldwide for Premium Video on Demand (VOD). Viewers can rent or purchase the film on digital platforms such as Vudu (Fandango at Home), Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV. While it has not yet moved to a major subscription streaming service like Netflix or Max, it is expected to join a subscription lineup later in 2026.
