Return to Silent Hill 2026
Based on the video game Silent Hill 2, Return to Silent Hill is an psychological horror film officially set for release in U.S. theaters on January 23, 2026. Directed by Christophe Gans—who helmed the original 2006 film adaptation—the movie serves as a franchise reboot rather than a direct sequel to 2012's Silent Hill: Revelation. The story follows James Sunderland (played by Jeremy Irvine), a man broken by grief who is mysteriously called back to the fog-shrouded town of Silent Hill by a letter from his wife, Mary (played by Hannah Emily Anderson), despite her having died years earlier. As James searches for her in the town, he finds it transformed by an unknown evil, encountering both familiar and new monsters—including the iconic Pyramid Head—while questioning his own sanity. The film features a score by original game composer Akira Yamaoka and is described by Gans as a "mythological love story" about a man willing to go to hell to save his lost love.
