The Lychee Road (Chang'an De Li Zhi) 2025
The Lychee Road is a 2025 Chinese historical comedy-drama film co-written, directed by, and starring Da Peng (also known as Dong Chengpeng). The movie, adapted from a novel by Ma Boyong, premiered in China on July 18, 2025. It follows the story of Li Shande, a low-ranking Tang Dynasty official who is given the seemingly impossible task of transporting fresh lychees from the southern Lingnan region to the capital, Chang'an, for the imperial concubine's birthday. This journey spans over 2,000 kilometers, while the fruit only stays fresh for a few days. The film is a blend of historical narrative with modern workplace satire, as Li Shande faces not only the logistical challenges of the journey but also bureaucratic red tape and scheming officials. The cast also includes Bai Ke as Su Liang, a Persian merchant who assists Li Shande, Zhuang Dafei as Ah Tong, and veteran actor Andy Lau in a memorable role as the scheming Right Chancellor Yang Guozhong.

Most of the supporting cast just appear and didn't contribute any point to the main story. Lead actor got lucky and have every one to support him without any reason. Most of the jokes is lame and awkward. First half was painful to watch till Andy Lau appear as a bad guy then things start to get Serious. Da Peng cinematography get better each year and hope one day he can produce a great movie without any joke inside.
