Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback (Japanese title: Meitantei Konan Sekigan no Furasshubakku) is the 28th feature film in the Case Closed franchise, directed by Katsuya Shigehara and written by Takeharu Sakurai. Released in Japan on April 18, 2025, the film centers on a mystery connected to the past of Nagano Prefectural Police Inspector Kansuke Yamato. The plot begins with a flashback to ten months prior in the snow-laden Yatsugatake mountain range, where Yamato, during the pursuit of a gun-store robbery suspect, is shot near his left eye and subsequently swallowed by an avalanche. In the present, Yamato, having miraculously survived, is investigating an assault at the Nobeyama National Observatory with Detective Yui Uehara, when the observatory's massive parabolic antenna activates, causing a searing pain in his wounded eye, hinting at a buried connection. Conan, Kogoro, and the Nagano Police trio—Yamato, Uehara, and Inspector Taka'aki Morofushi—team up, finding themselves embroiled in a complex web of deceit involving a plea bargain, a fugitive, a suicide, and a deep-seated conspiracy that ultimately ropes in members of the Public Security Bureau (PSB), like Tōru Amuro and Yūya Kazami, and a prosecutor from the Tokyo District Prosecution Office. The story is a taut mystery thriller with strong action set pieces and an emotional core exploring the haunting "afterimage" etched in Yamato's injured eye.
