Guest from the Future (Russian: Sto let tomu vperyod, or One Hundred Years Ahead) is a 2024 Russian science fiction adventure film directed by Aleksandr Andryushchenko. The movie is an adaptation of the 1978 novel of the same name by Kir Bulychev and is not to be confused with the 1985 Soviet TV miniseries. The film stars Mark Eydelshteyn as Kolya Gerasimov and Darya Vereshchagina as Alisa Selezneva. The plot centers on Kolya Gerasimov, a teenager in modern-day Moscow who is more concerned with video games and his social life than the future. His life takes a drastic turn when he accidentally time-travels to the year 2124. In this future, Earth has won a major intergalactic war, but a remnant of the defeated space pirates, led by the villainous Glot, is plotting to go back in time to alter history. Kolya unknowingly becomes a pawn in their plan. He meets Alisa, a resilient girl from the future who has a personal vendetta against the pirates. Together, they must navigate the complexities of time travel and battle the space pirates, including the eccentric Jolly Man U, to prevent the course of history from being rewritten. The film combines action and emotional themes, showcasing a fresh perspective on the time-travel genre. The movie was released in Russia on April 18, 2024. It was well-received at the box office, becoming one of the top-grossing films in Russia in its first weeks.
